The project manager said:

'I feel this is a credit to all at the Tithe Barn Trust and Nailsea Town Council who have championed the project for the last twelve years; to all the members of the design team headed up by George Tasker of Architecton; to all at Coombes the contractor and also their sub contractors; to Katherine Hann who has done much to promote and bring the project to a wider audience; and not least to the HLF who selected, funded and supported the delivery of the project.'

History of the barn

Nailsea Tithe Barn dates from around 1480. It was a basic agricultural barn for storing crops taken as taxes by the Church. The Barn has since been significantly modified over 500 years, especially when it was converted to use as a school in 1789.
